SECTIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS

FORMAT AND REQUIREMENTS

The Championship will consist of one round for both the Fall Tournament and the Winter Tournament.  Each team will perform a cheer/dance combination. Requirements for the cheer/dance are specified below.

CHEER/DANCE COMBINATION

The cheer/dance must meet the following criteria:

1. Two jumps done by the entire squad at the same time.

2. A gymnastic move (by one, several or all).

3. Two partner stunts done simultaneously or throughout the routine.

4. Pompons, signs and megaphones are allowed.  Megaphones can be used for voice enhancement only.

5. Must contain a cheer and a dance portion.  No specific time requirements within the routine for the cheer or dance portions of your routine.

Time Limit:  2 minutes, 30 seconds

DEDUCTIONS

1. A violation of the Safety Regulations at Sectionals is a 10 point deduction for each violation.  This will be deducted from the total sectional score.  Any safety deductions at Sectionals will be decided by three nationally certified safety judges.  Their decision will be final.  Coaches will be notified before awards are given out.

2. At sectionals there is a 10 pt. deduction for exceeding the time limit.  Time starts with your squad's first move.  In the event there are technical difficulties or disruptions beyond the competing team's control (music won't play, CD skips, tape breaks, faulty start by coach or assistant coach, etc.) the team will restart from the beginning.

3. Failure to incorporate all requirements as noted above will result in a 10 point deduction.

SCORING

The scores from two score sheets will be added (Overall Effect and Technical) together to determine the overall Sectional Champion in each classification.
